To our minds, the best family destination is the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego, California.

Created with families in mind the 462 California cottage-style guestrooms include Cable TVS, in-room movies, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, microwaves and sinks.

Get to swim and splash in any of the five pools including a beautiful lagoon pool with a sandy beach area. Families love to walk along the Bay, and for the little ones a pail and shovel is all they need to be creative. At night there’s bon fires and of course yummy S’mores for everyone. Courts can be reserved for family games suitable for all energies, including, volley-ball, tennis, golf, horse shoes and lawn croquet. During the summer and holidays Kids Kamp hosts kids 4-12.  The resort’s unique SpaTerre offers service for the whole family to indulge in, while The Fitness Center features the latest cardio equipment.

Paradise Point is well known for its private full service marina. Aquatic activities such as sailing, water and jet skiing, motor boating and kayaking can be learned and enjoyed.

The Resort’s all day dining is available at the Barefoot Bar & Grill and for poolside nibbles the Tropics Bar and Grill will indulge your every whim. For a very special gourmet family dinner there’s BALEEN. All have kid’s menus.

It’s a very short hop to Sea World, (almost right outside the property), as well as San Diego Wild Animal Park, Legoland and the San Diego Zoo.

Paradise Point & Spa is located at 1404 Vacation Road in San Diego (800/344-2626)

We just got back from a week at Walt Disney World in Florida, and had a fantastic time. We stayed at one of the Disney properties, the Wilderness Lodge, so we never had to worry about transportation and had many entertainment opportunities at our fingertips. We were looking into a California vacation, but didn't want to spend a lot of time in the car. Thank you for your post! Pardise Point Resort & Spa sounds perfect for our family with 2 young boys. We definately want to hit Legoland before they get too old to enjoy it. I think California is calling.
