You've come to the right place.
2N New Orleans with Jazz and Cajun Cookin from $579 Family of 4
This package is definitely unique based on its ideal setting in the city of jazz. Lasting only through late December, families will want to get in on this sweet deal as soon as possible.
To provide you and your family with an unforgettable trip to New Orleans, the Loews New Orleans Hotel's “Taste of the Big Easy” package will include two tickets for the Preservation Hall Jazz Club and a lunch for two at the famous Café Du Monde. (Warning: Kids and powdered beignets may be a risky, if not, hilarious, combination.) If you and your family still haven’t gotten your fill of the N’awlins experience, saunter down to Mother’s Restaurant, where you should expect to be addressed by every affectation in the book – Southern hospitality at its best.
Rates start at $579 for the two-night stay package deal. In addition to receiving jazz tickets, a lunch of beignet donuts and chicory coffee, and lunch at Mother’s, the Loews Hotel offer is based on a two-night stay in a Grand King guest room.
While the package includes other more “adult” activities, childcare at the hotel is available through the concierge. There’s much more to do in the Fertile Crescent, so be sure to check out the New Orleans Kid Friendly Attractions article on the Family Travel Forum website as well as the NOLA Fun Guide.
A word of caution: Unless your family is the adventurous kind, take it from both Mama and me – avoid Bourbon Street when the sun goes down.
December in the Big Easy also calls for a New Orleans-style Christmas. Here, residents go all out for the holiday, celebrating the entire month long (and more) with the New Orleans Christmas Festival. A variety of free concerts are held throughout the city, as well as caroling tours including the 63-year-old tradition of candlelit caroling in Jackson Square. More than 100 events and activities are planned beetween December 1 – Twelfth Night, January 6th. Last year, New Orleans was named “Top Christmas Town” by Home & Garden Television (HGTV) so you can imagine the fun.
As always, the city offers endless selections of savory cuisine and an eclectic assortment of cultural and artistic opportunities that will broaden the little ones' minds.
For more information on a variety of packages, visit the Loews Hotels website. For those looking to navigate NOLA on their own itinerary, dozens of hotels are participating in a city-wide Papa Noel special offering discounted rates in conjunction with the Christmas Festival; the Papa Noel site lists them all, so be sure to use the promotion code PAPA when booking online or over the phone.
