Are you ready to encounter a heart-stopping, bone-chilling scare this Halloween season that will make any skeptic speechless?

The 21c Museum Hotel located in Louisville Kentucky, is offering a frightfully entertaining package that will allow anyone to experience the real life terror of an abandoned sanitarium that is suitably placed on a secluded hill, surrounded by ancient shrubbery and isolated woods. This venue is considered one of the most haunted places in the country, maybe even in the world.

With its decrepit and deteriorating exterior, Waverly Hills houses ominous secrets that are much more frightening than its grisly structure. Originally a tuberculosis hospital in the 20s, the countless deaths that transpired here are questionable beyond reasonable doubt.

Make sure to gaze inside the 500-foot chute, also known as the “death tunnel,” a place where the hospital staff would dump dead bodies awaiting hearses after they performed their own “bizarre treatments” on patients.

Not to mention the infamous fifth floor that has gained its own paranormal reputation, because of the numerous unexplainable suicides that occurred...  especially in room 502. If the Waverly Hills isn’t enough to satisfy your sinister appetite, there are a variety of other haunted houses in the area that will ensure a spooktacular experience for everyone.

Once you grab your family and literally head for the hills, you can seek solace at the 21c Hotel’s safe quarters where you will be provided sweet Halloween treats, gelato for two, and if you can sleep, complimentary breakfast in the morning.

This 90-room hotel has a reputation for providing luxurious accommodations and authentic southern-style hospitality.  This package is valid during weekends in October and starts at $255 per night with accommodations for two. Guest’s have the option of selecting two tickets to the Waverly Hills Haunted House or to the Old Louisville Ghost Tours.

If one night of spooks is all you and your family can handle, there are many other activities at the hotel or in the area you wouldn’t want to miss. In this season, nightly double rates at the hotel run $255 but you must call 502/217-6300 to book the Halloween offer.

If you can't make it in October, the hotel has an ongoing "Family Play-cation Package" that enables families to explore Louisville in style. As part of this offer, the fun restaurant Proof on Main will take care of cooking a yummy breakfast for 4 before you head out to the Louisville Zoo. Prefer to keep the fun indoors? Head across the street to the Louisville Science Center's IMAX theatre -- your family has a choice of 4 tickets to either attraction. Other perks include a complimentary water bottle and penguin poster, souvenirs of a fun weekend. This offer is priced at $337 per night on weekends through the fall.

The hotel itself is billed as North America’s first that is dedicated solely to collecting contemporary art of the 21st century. The 21c museum is constantly hosting a series of interesting exhibits and is responsible for introducing acclaimed international artists to this city. For more information about the current exhibits being offered please visit 21c Museum; for hotel bookings go to the 21c Museum Hotel site.

When you decide to venture out of the hotel, take a stroll in E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, where you can arrange a family outdoor picnic by reserving a shelter rental which includes a picnic table, grill, rest room facilities and other outdoor amenities. The park has three picnic shelters that could be rented up to a year or a month in advance. For reservations please call the business office at 502-429-3280 for pricing and availability.
