Community service is back in fashion! Soneva by Six Senses is making community service ultra-chic by offering guests a great deal -- 50% off -- at two of their resorts in the Maldives. Where? The Maldives are a picture perfect archipelago of tropical islands in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa. Nice place to be. From June 1, 2009 until December 22, 2009 guests who book 14 nights at Soneva Gili or Soneva Fushi will recceive 14 additional nights for free if they participate in four days of community service projects.

This initiative coincides with Soneva's numerous socially responsible campaigns and eco-friendly efforts to provide visitors with "intelligent luxury." As part of their efforts, they use ingredients from their personal organic gardens in their restaurants, adding a local flare to international dishes.

Located on one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives, Soneva Gili (960/664-0304 Lankanfushi Island, North Male' Atoll, Republic of the Maldives) and Soneva Fushi (960/660-0374 Kunfunadhoo Island, Baa Atoll, Republic of the Maldives) rest upon the private tropical islands of Lankanfushi and Kunfunadhoo in the Indian Ocean.

Accessible only by boat or kayak, Soneva Gili is just a 20-minute speedboat ride from the International Airport at Male', providing guests with a truly relaxing tropical escape. With the addition of a Floating Bar in March 2009, and their new restaurant, Sense by the Sea in February 2009, Soneva Gili continues to expand the amenities offered. With 45-waterfront villas, Gili entices guests by providing a serene atmosphere with natural surroundings. Each villa includes a private water garden and sun deck, and upon arrival guests can enjoy refreshments and drinks. Every Tuesday night they host cocktail parties on the beach. Be sure to take advantage of their 20-minute spa treatment, complimentary for each guest with a minimum 3/N stay.

Guests staying at Soneva Fushi are directed to a lounge at the same airport, where they await a seaplane to transport them to a pontoon, where a motorboat escorts guests to their final destination. White sand beaches, surrounded by the gorgeous green-blue shades of the sea attract visitors to this destination.

Amid the beautiful landscape sits the Ever Soneva So Celestial Observatory, the most recent addition to the resort. A telescope in the garden provides guests with the chance to examine the starry night sky. Like Gili, Fushi offers complimentary spa treatments and cocktail parties on the beach, along with snorkeling, windsurfing, and sailing. All of the 65 rooms open up to the white sand beaches, and select villas even offer private seawater swimming pools.

Soneva Gili earned accolades on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List for 2009 for their superior rooms and also got raves for their spa. With rates starting as low as $1,588 per night -- we didn't say this was cheap, just a good deal and very unusual -- you can't pass up this opportunity to stay in deluxe accomodations, while teaching your kids about the importance of giving back to the community.
