So if I read everything above corrently, and my entry currently says, "Semi-Finalist", I JUST got an email about it, does that mean it can't go any farther other than trying for a Punzabo award?

Yes - if it says semi finalist it means that you did not make inn into the finalist round -- we have different sets of judges at each stage -- so you having bragging rights of being a semi finalist (which you should be proud of given the numbers) and you can try to win a Punabo award.

Smile FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship Finalists Posted
Hey TTW Scholarship Applicants,

We know you have been waiting a long time for this news, so thanks for your patience and for submitting your wonderful travel tales to the 2009 Family Travel Forum SATW Teen Travel Writing Scholarship contest. The judges have picked the finalists and we have posted all of them on www.travelBIGO.com (Some tweaking will follow...)

A lot of you are into numbers, and asked about your odds, so here goes:

* more than 8,500 travel tales came in to travelBIGO.com
* 20% made it to the Quarter Final round.
* 6% made it to the Semi Final round.
* 1% made it to the Final round.

It was a hugely competitive field, and judging was tough because all the work was read by at least 2 people. We had no quotas; readers judged each travel tale on its own merits.

You can see how your travel tale was rated by searching for it at www.travelBIGO.com.

Congratulations to everyone whose work has been published with a Quarter Finalist, Semi Finalist or Finalist honor. You can use the "Print this as pdf" tool to print or make a PDF, and the "Share" tool to post it on Facebook or other sites for friends, family and colleges.

Over the next week, the winners of the 2009 FTF - SATW Teen Travel Writing Contest are being selected from the Finalists by 6 professional travel journalists from the Society of American Travel Writers, and will be announced on November 13, 2009, when they will also be posted on travelBIGO.com.

Congratulations again to all of you who made it to any stage of the Final rounds! Your published work will be eligible for the monthly Punzabo $100 travel stipend awarded by the travelBIGO community, so be sure to have friends and family vote for it.

If you didn't make it, there are hundreds of really great and useful travel tales that the editors want to share with the BIGO community, so we will be publishing more over the next few months.

Good luck to all; keep traveling, keep writing, and keep on sharing your stories!

Hii I have a question..
I just checked my essay and it says i am a QUARTER FINALIST...soo does that mean that that is as far as i made it? i didnt make it to the semi finalist or finalist?

Go on to www.travelbigo.com and search for your essay by author name or title.

Ok, I am a little confused. I was one of the people who tried uploading her essay a thousand times but never got it to download but didnt read about the extension until after the new deadline. haha Bummer... But I still got the e-mail saying thank you for submitting your essay. How do I know if it actually uploaded or not?

look on the travelbigo.com site and see if you can find it - search by your name or your essay title. If not, you might not have made it to the group that will be published. But do try again next year if you're eligible and look over some of the winning essays to see how they were written.
