Climbing Imbabura - Ecuador

My hubby and I lived in Quito in 1996-97 but will be returning for the first time with 2 of our 4 kids.
We climbed Imbabura while we were there and remember it as long but not to hard. The younger child is 9 yo, Has anyone done this climb/hike with a very healthy active child? Did they make it to the summit?

I haven't climbed Imbabura with or without kids, but I do know that there are a number of climbing schools in the area that serve the more difficult and technical peaks in the region. You might want to contact them to find out their opinion.
