Hi! I’m new to Family Travel Forum and wanted to share some info about the Big Apple Circus with you all. I messaged the admin through the “contract us” page but he/she never got back to me, I hope it’s ok that I’m posting this, let me know!

I’m working with the Big Apple Circus to get the word out about their newest show – Bello is Back! The Big Top just opened up last week at Lincoln Center in NYC, and will be there until January 18 when they hit the road to visit other east coast cities. Besides putting on a really awesome, fun-filled show… what’s really cool about the Big Apple Circus is that they’re a not-for-profit organization, committed to bringing joy and laughter to the communities around them.

If you wanna know more about the Big Apple Circus, check them out on Facebook (search: big apple circus) and Twitter (@bigapple_circus).

I’d love to hear some of your favorite circus memories! When was the first time you went to the circus? The first time you took your kids? Favorite act?

If you’re thinking about going to see the Big Apple Circus this year let me know! :)

Hi TwoTwo,

I was there with my family for Thanksgiving a few years back, and it was really nice. I can't remember specific restaurants because most of the meals over that weekend were special buffets, set up for the holiday. All the food was great and it was a pretty lavish spread.

The weather then was very nice during the day and cool at night, we didn't swim but our son played outdoors a lot. I remember a nice playground and sandy area by the pool. Texas weather is very changeable and you may encounter really warm days. The staff had certain activities planned, I think we sat by a fireplace and there was storytelling, maybe cookie making in the club too.

The ground floor rooms may be easier if you have older relatives along, at least for them to go in and out. I prefer higher floor rooms because they are quieter (although it's really quiet here) and the views over the grounds to the hills was beautiful. I don't know if there is a size difference. As for checking in early, well, the Hyatt staff was really nice. They seemed to want to help us and our grandparents out with anything we asked.

If you go, enjoy it and let me know what you think.

Here's a story on familytravelforum that I think is helpful:
Grapes are easy to wash and put in a ziploc, I often times pull them off the stem to make them easier to eat. Apples, washed and cut. Carrot sticks are an easy vegetable. Cut up bell peppers are good too. For the sweet tooth, I like licorice or mini bags of m&m's. Water is a must as well. Be sure to keep paper towels and wet ones in the car for sticky fingers or minor clean up.

These seats used to be free and we (at least I did) all loved them. I'm just wondering what's coming up next. AC doesn't feed the passengers in flights shorter than 6-7 hours (correct me if I'm wrong), we are still paying the fuel surcharge even though prices went down a while ago and now the seats. It seems AC is trying to take off on our backs!

San Diego is an excellent choice for a winter family vacation. Even if it's a bit too chilly to swim, you can still hang out for an afternoon on the beach and play in the sand. But there's plenty to do besides the beach. The world famous San Diego zoo is worth at least one day - if you can, break it up into two days so you don't get tired and you can see everything. The Wild Animal Park is also wonderful.

If your children are young take them to Legoland, about 30 minutes away in Carlsbad. Seaworld is another terrific family attraction. The Bayside Trail at Cabrillo National monument has a two mile hike along the coast that is good for families with older children. And that's just a start - there's plenty more to keep you busy and happy!

We just got back from a Disney Vacation that was a lot of fun. You can choose to get the meal plan, but we didn't because our kids don't eat enough to make it worth while. Also, you have to plan your meals a little with the plan, and with young kids, making a set plan isn't always adventageous. We stayed at a Disney property, the Wilderness Lodge, which was a like a vacation in itself. There was a pool, a little beach area and all the transportion was free and easily accessible. Our kids are 4 & 6 and they had a fantastic time. Your two year old might get left out of some of the action, but if one of you isn't a big ride person, it won't really matter. Be sure you have a stroller for both of your kids if you go. My other suggestion would be a club med vacation that is family friendly. Club Med vacations are great because the food and drinks are free and always available. Many of the locations offer kids club activities that free up the parents for some adult fun as well. I've been to a couple of Club Med's and have always found the experience relaxing and fun.
