Norwegian Spirit Embarks from Big Apple - Fares from $849/8 Days to Eastern Caribbean

In 2005, the Big Apple gained a new ally in efforts to provide an ever-increasing number of ways to get out of town when Norwegian Cruise Line positioned one of their ships, Norwegian Spirit, to sail out of the New York Cruise Passenger Terminal in western Midtown. A new cruise ship in port provided travelers in the northeast an option that is close to bus, train and auto transportation, as well as an easy ride from all three metropolitan airports.

Luckily, Norwegian has continued its stint in New York City, using the port for 10 summer weeks during 2008. On April 19; May 3, 7, 31; June 14, 28; July 12, 26; and August 9, 23, Norwegian Spirit will be departing from New York City to many Eastern Caribbean ports such as Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic.

Fares will be as low as $849 per adult, plus taxes and fees, for an eight-day cruise. This fee includes just about everything you could imagine -- minus alcoholic beverages and spa treatments. There's a comprehensive Kid's Crew Program for ages 2 all the way up to 17, each with its own age-appropriate counselors and calendar of activities. Besides the Kid's Crew program, two very large pools (one with waterslides!) will keep any swimmer happy and healthy. Basketball? Yes, there is a court on board.

We were lucky enough to cruise on the Norwegian Spirit a few years ago. This fast, deceptively large (1,900 passengers) ship has many places for families to mingle and separate in exponential equations. The Freestyle dining program ensures that adults can eat a fine Continental meal as a twosome, or enjoy a family meal in a relaxed, child-friendly atmosphere... all up to you.

Large Plasma TV screens throughout the ship inform you of which dining rooms are available, and what the potential waiting time will be, certainly a boon to any family.

Any Norwegian Cruise Lines vessel this size (880-feet-long, over 77,000 tons) will keep every family member busy with every possible combination of activities and facilities.

For further information on this ship and all other NCL cruises from the United States, you may look online at www.ncl.com, call your travel professional, or NCL directly at 800/327-7030.
