Club Med Sandpiper, Florida
Top All-Inclusive Getaway
by Fran Falkin

Club Med Sandpiper won Top 10 Getaways for parents with infants and toddlers in 2000.

Are you seeking a well-deserved break from the demands of work and baby's care, combined with a desire to relax and enjoy your new family?  In 2000, our parent company, www.familytravelforum.com chose the following for a memorable vacation for mom, dad, baby and big siblings. Here's a look at the resort today.

Club Med Sandpiper
Port St. Lucie, Florida
800/CLUB-MED

Club Med's some 50 years of experience managing 120 all-inclusive villages worldwide has contributed to the success of this rejuvenated property. Besides Club Med's renowned variety of sports and recreation facilities, its upbeat, high-energy ambience, and its superb cuisine, Sandpiper offers enhanced tennis and golf instruction, and clinics with extreme sports pros from the Club Med-sponsored team. After a multi-million dollar renovation, Sandpiper boasts new, plantation-tropical style guest rooms and suites, renewed dining facilities, four swimming pools, 19 tennis courts, golf, new programs in waterskiing, sailing and rollerblading, and new family facilities.

This most upscale village in North America is one of the select villages currently offering a Baby Club for their youngest guests (4-23 months - divided into walkers and non-walkers).  Additionally there is a Petit Club (for 2-3 year olds), a Mini Club (for 4-10 year-olds), a Junior Club (for 11-13 year-olds) and a Teen Club offered during holiday periods.

Baby Club's air-conditioned suite is open daily form 9am-5:30pm and features a nap room with cribs and an indoor/outdoor play area with swings. Caregivers, who are at least 21-years-old with prior experience at a school, camp or daycare center, receive additional childcare instruction at the village. Each specially trained GO (Gentil Organisateur) supervises up to three babies. Freshly-prepared meals are cooked by a special chef at lunch (kids fed by the staff) and dinner (kids fed by parents or babysitters). Until 1am, private evening care can be arranged so adults can enjoy the staff-led evening entertainment. Club Med's well-trained counselors lead day and night programs for kids age 2-12, as well.
