Lake Lanier
The 1,100-acre Lake Lanier Island Resort is composed of five islands amidst a 40-mile lake, just 45 minutes from Atlanta, Georgia. 

Accommodations are varied and include quaint Lakehouses on Lanier, the Hilton Lake Lanier Islands Resort, campgrounds, and houseboats.  Golf is available at The Emerald Pointe Golf Club and the Beach & Waterpark, riding stables and fishing and boating rentals offer a wide array of activities in warm weather.  In addition, the resort has its own waterpark with tons of attractions including a wave generating machine that you can surf on.
