Born to Shop New York!
Family Travel Forum Staff

Teens highlight the hippest places to shop in the Big Apple.

We polled Lauren from Dallas, TX; Kyle from Lancaster, PA; and Samantha and Kara from NYC to come up with these favorite stores for hip girls ages 12-18. (Many have more than one branch.)

Aeropostale, 901 Sixth Ave (212/239-5201).
Well-priced, Euro-style casual for both sexes.

Canal Jean Co., 718 Broadway (212/226-3663).
Student favorite for gently worn jeans, used men’s suit jackets.

Diesel, 770 Lexington (212/308-0055).
Trendy Italian in wild fabrics with low to high prices.

Infinity, 1116 Madison Ave (212/517-4232).
Eclectic mix: some trendy "hooker" wear and some very cute.

Gig Wear, 591 Broadway (212/941-5900)
Posters, buttons, Madonna’s used corsettes, tour jackets from unknown bands, autographed stills, T-shirts galore.

Marsha DD, 1324 Lexington Ave (212/534-8700).
Very expensive, Euro style. Lots of spandex.

Original Levi’s Store, 750 Lexington Ave (212/826-5957)
Custom-sized jeans made to order.

Reminiscence, 50 West 23rd St (212/243-2292).
Moderately-priced Tie-dye, Retro and Nouveau Hippy.

Ricky's, 590 Broadway (212/226-5552)
This branch of the discount pharmacy south of Houston, as well as the branch up on University Place, are sought out by film and theatre designers and foreign visitors for their enormous variety of makeup, nail polish colors and a la mode cosmetics and accessories.

Urban Outfitters, 628 Broadway (212/475-0009). Trendy, overpriced T shirts, jeans, skirts, dresses accessories, shoes, new and used jeans for both sexes.
