An important part of introducing the outside world to young children is to make learning fun. Books with colorful pictures of children and the environments they live in makes geography more real. Here are some suggestions for kid-friendly geography books.

National Geographic Beginners World Atlas ($17.95) Ages 4-8

This book is a great way to start younger children on map skills. Introductory sections explain what maps are, how they make the round world flat, and the differences between the physical and political world. This colorful atlas also comes with a pronunciation guide for newly learned place names.
